Best Experiences for children aboard Disney Cruise Line

Cruising is one of the BEST ways for families with children to vacation and for the younger crowd it doesn’t get much better than Disney!  Disney offers themed cruises for the whole family to enjoy! In fact, recently Disney announced a Frozen- themed cruise based on their blockbuster movie. Frozen not your thing? They have also added a Star Wars-themed cruise too. When traveling with Disney your kids will have a plethora of on-board activities to choose from and plenty of entertainment to keep them busy for the entire trip. Adults have their own private areas too, so if you’re looking for some time aboard without the kiddos in tow, you can visit the adult’s only areas. The options aboard Disney are never ending. I guess you could say it’s the happiest cruise on Earth.

Oceaneer Club: Available on all Disney Cruise Line ships, this kids club offers supervised activities, a place for dress up, storytelling sessions, guest visits from some of your favorite Disney characters, an area to play computer games, and so much more! The Oceaneer Club is free of charge but children have to be potty trained and parents must register the children upon embarkation. Hours of operation are from 9:00 a.m. to Midnight. The Oceaneer Club is geared towards children ages 3-12.

Oceaneer Lab: Located next to the Oceaneer Club you will find the Oceaneer Lab. The same rules apply at the lab, as the club, but the lab it’s geared slightly more toward exploration and learning.  In the lab your child can participate in educational experiments, play with toys, and watch movies. Both clubs allow children 3-12 to play and dine together. If you have children in this age range and want them to stay together, Disney is one of the only cruise lines that do not separate their kids programs into age groups.

Small World and Flounder’s Reef Nursery: Want some adult time while on your cruise? Disney offers a nursery for ages 3 and under. There is an additional fee for the nursery. The cost is $9/hr. for the first child and $8/hr. for additional children. The hours of operation are from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. If you are interested in booking time with the nursery you may do so in advance online.

Hours of operation are from 11 a.m to 2 a.m. and entrance into the club is free of charge. Vibe is designed as a teen only area but not to worry, Vibe is chaperoned by Disney counselors.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique: One of Disney’s biggest sellers is the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. Here your  little one can receive the full princess or pirate treatment. You can find the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique aboard the Disney Magic, Dream, or Fantasy ships only. This boutique is perfect for boys or girls ages 3 to 12 and packages range from $18.95 to $199.95.
