What is Wave Season and Why is it the Best Time to book my Cruise for 2016?
If you are looking for a great cruise deal, Wave Season is the time of year to do it! I like to consider Wave Season as the Black Friday Specials for the cruising industry. Essentially, all the cruise lines put forth their best cruise deals and exclusive offers during Wave Season.
Historically Wave Season started because most cruisers would begin planning their cruise vacations during the first of the year, between January and March. Characteristically most people plan their vacations well in advance. If you’re wanting to travel in October, planning in January gives you plenty of time to organize, save up, and get excited about your big vacation!
The cruise industry recognized this pattern and created exclusive offers to entice cruisers to sail with their line. We call this savings period Wave Season. Basically just like black Friday or cyber week; the industry knows that’s when their customers will be doing the most of their shopping and try to put out their absolute best deals to attract the most business.
Is Wave Season Better Than Last Minute Cruise Deals
Even though Wave Season will typically get you the best value for your cruise it’s not always the cheapest. Last minute cruise deals are often sought after by cruisers who are on a tight budget but at its own expense. Last Minute sailings usually go on sale just a few weeks before the cruise itself sets sail and usually during the not so desirable times of year. These last minute deals are usually to put forth by the cruising industry if a particular sailing did not produce a lot of interest with clientele, leaving lots of open staterooms. Making it a good deal but not a great value. However, rumor has it things are changing and those who miss Wave Season deals in hopes to get Last Minute Deals may have missed their chance for a good deal at all.
A few cruise lines have recently released statements claiming Last Minute Deals will no longer be an option in 2016. For those looking for the least expensive way to book a cruise vacation this change in protocol makes Wave Season the best chance at getting the best deal.
