Celebrity Cruise Line launched the Celebrity Constellation in May 2002 as the fourth and final ship of the Millennium-class. Each Celebrity Cruise Line Millennium-class ship features beautiful teak and glass accents and carries 1,950 passengers The Celebrity Constellation has an elegant three-deck Grand Foyer that brings to mind a classic ocean liner. The focal point of the Constellation's foyer is a sweeping staircase of polished white onyx stone.
Celebrity Constellation and her other Millennium-class sister ships were designed primarily for baby boomers looking for a luxury cruise ship experience while paying a more moderate price. Four Celebrity Cruise Line ships including the Celebrity Constellation received top honors from Conde Nast Traveler's Cruise Poll in 2006. With the baby boomers in mind, Celebrity Cruise Line has built tastes of luxury into the Millennium-class ships including both a martini bar and a champagne bar to attract connoisseurs of specialty drinks. Michael's Piano Bar offers an English country house décor. Celebrity Cruise Line was the first cruise line to offer Conservatories at sea on all the Millennium-class ships. The Conservatory provides a quiet place to relax amid floral and plant displays as well as florist services, and even offers flower arranging classes. For health and fitness fanatics, Celebrity Constellation has a 25,000 square foot AquaSpa that includes a full fitness facility, thalassotherapy pool, and the Persian Garden, a solarium-style area with steam rooms and saunas. Golfers will find a simulator, lessons with the onboard pro, and golf shore excursions.
Cuisine on board a Celebrity Cruise Line ship has been a hallmark attraction and the Celebrity Constellation is a perfect example. Celebrity Cruise Line still offers the classical two sitting shipboard dining. The traditional San Marco Restaurant serves contemporary cuisine in a beautiful setting with two-deck high glass windows allowing lots of natural light and a view of the ship's wake. Celebrity Constellation's alternative restaurant, Ocean Liners, pays homage to ocean liners of the past and has a display of art deco panels from the liner Ile de France. Ocean Liners prides itself on white-glove service and gourmet continental cuisine worthy of its $30 per person surcharge.
