Searching for Adults Only Cruises? Virgin Voyages Has You Covered
Virgin Voyages’ plan to offer adults only cruises is underway. Find out how to join in the fun!
Cruising is about to get a romantic, glamorous makeover when Virgin Voyages’ adults only cruises set sail in 2020! Guests will have to be at least 18 years or older to sail on the new cruise line, which is designed to appeal to Millennials, couples, and other adventurous travellers. Virgin Group Founder Sir Richard Branson founded the kids free cruise line to appeal to travelers looking for a return to a more sophisticated, grown up vision of the cruise experience. The first voyage scheduled is a seven day Caribbean cruise sailing from Miami in 2020.
Why sail with Virgin Voyages’ kid free cruises
As cruise lines compete for the business of multigenerational vacationers, the focus on families has left couples and singles seeking sophisticated diversions out in the cold. Many cruise ships have added attractions designed to appeal to children in recent years, offering junior clubs as well as rock climbing walls, waterslides, and other amusements geared to younger travelers. Virgin Voyages hopes to shake up the cruise industry by offering kid free cruises that Millennials and elite travelers will love.
Virgin Voyages’ “Adult By Design” cruises are designed to appeal to Millennials and ‘young at heart’ travelers who are eager to experience a more glamorous version of cruising. Virgin Voyages is determined to offer some of the best cruises for couples, with elegant touches that deliver a boutique cruise experience. Details are still scarce, but the cruise line is expected to provide sumptuous voyages that deliver an experience in line with other Virgin brand icons such as Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Hotels.
Virgin Voyages’ first adults only cruise ship
At a recent keel-laying ceremony at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Genoa, Italy, CEO Tom McAlpin revealed some details on the design of the cruise line’s first ship. The ship, which is set to debut in 2020, is designed to appeal to travelers with a taste for a more elevated, premium experience. 93 percent of the rooms will offer an ocean view, and 86 percent of the ship’s cabins will feature a sea terrace. The ship will carry 2,800 passengers, making it the largest vessel to embrace the adults’ only cruise market.
London-based artist Toby Tinsley designed Virgin Voyages’ logo, which was inspired by figureheads on historic vessels. The logo features a glamorous mermaid trailing a Virgin banner, and will appear on the side of the ship’s bow in line with the bridge. The ship’s livery will incorporate a silver-gray hull, with smoked glass and accents of iconic Virgin-brand red color, including a funnel. The aft below the promenade deck will feature the familiar Virgin logo and font.
Virgin Voyages’ ship is designed to be eco-friendly, with sustainability enhancements that will increase its appeal to Millennials and progressive travelers. The cruise line has entered into partnerships with innovative companies including waste provider Scanship and Sweden-based clean energy company Climeon. The companies will be exploring developing technology, looking for ways to convert waste into energy. If the technology comes through, it could significantly reduce ocean discharge.
