Happy Traveler Comment
I started the week singing in my Senior Choir and one of my members cornered me and said, "I know you know Hawaii better than anyone. I want to take some friends there....who do you recommend?" I told her I would hook her up with my California connection and the very best travel agent in America and gave her your phone number! — Betty D.

So where is smoking allowed on cruise ships? We’ve put together a guide for you to follow for cruise line smoking areas including electronic cigarettes unless we have noted otherwise.

Can You Smoke on a Cruise Ship?

Check out your cruise line in the following list for the latest smoking policy. Each ship makes an effort to provide ample smoking accommodations for their guests.

Azamara Club

Designated smoking areas are available on each Azamara ship, are clearly marked, and are located on the starboard forward section of the pool deck. The health and comfort of all Azamara guests is always of primary concern. Every other area of their ships are designated non-smoking including restaurants, public rooms, staterooms and suites, verandas and halls, and pool decks. Azamara Cruisetours are also non-smoking unless the tour operator states otherwise. The Azamara Club Cruises’ policy includes cigarettes, cigars, pipes, and electronic cigarettes.

Carnival Cruise Line

The safety of guests and crew is a major concern for Carnival Cruise Line. Due to the fire and safety hazards presented by smoking, it is limited to deck areas and designated casino and club spaces that can be easily monitored. Their non-smoking policy applies to all staterooms and suite accommodations, including outside balconies. Cigarettes, pipes, vaporizers, electronic cigarettes and marijuana and any other form of smoking are included in the policy. Policy violations will be fined at $500.00 per violation added to the guest’s Sail & Sign® account and can result in disembarkation of all stateroom guests and may be banned from future cruise on the Carnival Line.

Celebrity Cruises

Celebrity Cruise Ships are designated as non-smoking for the safety and comfort of all guests. In order to accommodate smoking guests, certain areas of each ship are designated as “smoking areas”. No smoking is permitted outside the designated areas, and any guest in violation of this policy will be charged a $250.00 cleaning fee on their SeaPass® account and may be subject to other consequences. This policy applies to all smoking products including electronic cigarettes.

Cunard Line

The Cunard Line smoking policy prohibits smoking in any public room, inside cabins, and on cabin balconies. Dedicated smoking areas are provided and are sign-posted. Electronic cigarettes cannot be used in public areas but can be used in staterooms, balconies, and designated open deck areas.

Disney Cruise Line

The Disney Cruise Line smoking policy prohibits all smoking indoors. There are designated smoking areas on outside decks on each ship, and some have limited hours. Guest who violate the stateroom and veranda ban on smoking will be charged a $250.00 stateroom recovery fee to cover deep cleaning, carpet extraction, and replacement of drapes, blankets, comforters, and pillows.

Holland America Cruise Line

Holland America Cruise Line’s smoking policy prohibits smoking in all cabins, balconies, showrooms, and Most indoor areas. Each ship in the line has designated smoking areas. Smoking is allowed in the Oak Room on the Noordam only. Smoking is allowed on outside decks.
