University of Alaska Museum of the North<\/b><\/a> (Fairbanks)<\/p>\n

The Museum of the North is a popular tourist attraction, but more importantly, a vital resource for the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The institution is Alaska’s only research and teaching museum and houses more than 1.4 million artifacts and specimens. Highlights of the museum includes an extensive collection of art that ranges from 2,000-year-old carvings to contemporary pieces from local artists. One of the most interesting parts of the museum, though, is the 36,000-year-old mummified Bison known as Blue Babe.<\/p>\n
