Ferry boats and yachts travel in and out of the harbor, and you’ll find restaurants and a variety of other entertainments as well. The Royal BC Museum specializes in the human and natural history of British Columbia. Its permanent collections trace local history from the Ice Age to the Russian fur trade, and from British Captain Vancouver’s nearby landing into modern times. You can also meet up with life-like grizzly bears and other regional wildlife. Temporary exhibits take on subjects like the Vikings and the BC Gold Rush. The current museum dates from 1968 and is located in the Inner Harbor area at 675 Belleville Street. Near the museum, you can see a nice collection of totems at Thunderbird Park. The Royal BC Museum recently won the Keck Award for their conservation work on the Chinese Freemason’s Lantern featured in the photo below.

<picture data-avif-picture="1"><img data-avif-wrap="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-48434" class="wp-image-48434" src="http://www.cruiseexperts.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Victoria-Royal-BC-Museum-1-300x193.jpg" alt="Best things to do in Victoria, BC, During Your Alaska Cruise.
