But, over the years, it\u2019s become somewhat toned down.\u00a0 A man in dark suit or even nice slacks, sports coat and tie would also fit right in.\u00a0 Women can be comfortable in a nice dress outfit.\u00a0 If you don\u2019t want to dress up you can always go to the \u201cLido Deck\u201d and enjoy the \u201cBuffet\u201d or some other casual dining venue on the ship.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Forward<\/strong>: the inside front of the ship<\/li>\n<li><strong>Friends of Bill W.<\/strong>: friends of Bill W. is the code name for Alcoholics Anonymous meetings onboard<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gangway<\/strong>: \u00a0the covered entrance\/exit (just like an airplane jet way) between land and ship<\/li>\n<li><strong>Knot:<\/strong>\u00a0 1 nautical mile per hour, unit of speed<\/li>\n<li><strong>Inside stateroom<\/strong>: an interior cabin\u00a0that has no windows.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lee side:<\/strong>\u00a0 the side of a ship sheltered from the wind<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lido Deck:<\/strong>\u00a0the generic term used by many cruise lines for the deck with the swimming pools and the main casual dining venue.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Midship:<\/strong>\u00a0 in the middle portion of the ship, along the line of the keel<\/li>\n<li><strong>Muster drill\/Muster Station<\/strong>: sometimes called a lifeboat drill, \u00a0an exercise conducted by the crew\u00a0of a ship prior to embarking on a voyage. The purpose of a muster drill is to prepare passengers for safe evacuation in the event of an emergency while on board the ship and to familiarize crew and passengers with escape routes.
