Erected in the late 1700\u2019s this stunning, solid-limestone staircase, was hand carved and took over 16 years to complete. The staircase was originally constructed so that there would be direct access to Fort Fincastle during a time when the British were worried that intruders may try to attack and overpower their already colonized island in the Bahamas. Later this historical architectural piece was named after Queen Victoria who reigned over Britain from 1837 to 1901.<\/p>\n

The Queen\u2019s Staircase is located in the Fort Fincastle Historical Complex and only a short ride from the pier. Admission is free and the scenery is amazing! The staircase will take you to Benet Hill which is the highest point on the island, so make sure and bring your camera.<\/p>\n
