If you are an adventurer like myself, and a cruise to Alaska is on your bucket list, now is a great time to begin researching itinerary options. I\u2019ve always enjoyed my stays on Holland America Line\u2019s ships which is why the cruise line is one of my top choices when it comes to an Alaskan cruise<\/a> get-away. Plus, its recent Denali Square development located at the entrance of Denali National Park gives it an edge over other options.<\/p>\n

\"Alaskan<\/picture><\/a>Right now, you can choose from a variety of Alaskan Land & Sea Journey itineraries<\/a> that include a 2- or 3- day stop at Denali National Park. During this stay-over, you can explore Denali Square, which is situated on the cruise line\u2019s 60-acre McKinley Chalet Resort property. Here, at the gates of the Denali National Park, you can rest, shop, dine, and even catch a dinner theater show. The development has been designed to literally offer everyone something to enjoy.<\/p>\n

Personally, I am excited to visit Holland America\u2019s new Denali Basecamp <\/a>because I love to be surrounded by nature and away from massive crowds. Denali Square includes numerous walking paths that show off the area\u2019s mountainous landscapes and offers great views of the Nenana River. If you too are a nature-buff, maybe I will catch you on one of the trails!<\/p>\n

During the day, catch a demonstration, musical performance or lecture from a park ranger at the Denali Square amphitheater. Then, if you are a shopping fan like myself, you won\u2019t want to miss the Artists-in-Residence Cabin. It\u2019s no secret that artists have been visiting Alaska\u2019s national parks for inspiration for ages. Now, at the in-residence cabin, you can actually drop in and watch the artists live as they create Denali-inspired treasures. Talk about bringing home one-of-a-kind souvenirs!<\/p>\n

\"Alaskan<\/picture><\/a>Another stop I can\u2019t wait to check out on my upcoming cruise to Alaska is the Gold Nugget Saloon. If you are a theater buff, be sure to swing by one of the saloon\u2019s lively dinner theater shows, have a drink and enjoy some laughs with new friends. Speaking of dinner, did I mention there is a top-tier restaurant on the property? Karstens Public House is a spacious restaurant that can offer you not only mouthwatering cuisine, but also breathtaking two-story views of the surrounding park and landscape.<\/p>\n
