Today the village inhabitants continue to keep their pledge. The Passion Play is performed in years ending with a zero, which means 2020 is the next opportunity to observe this amazing display of love and loyalty to the vow made over 385 years ago. The 42nd Passion Play will take place in Oberammergau from May 16 through October 4, 2020. All performers must be residents of the village, and 1,830 applied to participate in the upcoming 2020 Passion Play.
