Your ship will cruise to the ancient city of Trier, Germany – believed to be even older than Rome itself. Many remains of ancient Rome can still be found, such as the world-famous imperial baths and the ancient Roman Bridge, with its original stone pilings dating from 144-152 AD. The quaint wine village of Bernkastel, nestled amongst Germany’s biggest stretch of lush green grape vineyards, will enrapture you with its charming narrow streets and beautiful half-timbered houses, which have been standing since the historic Middle Ages.

River Cruise Itinerary
Day 1 Remich, Luxembourg (Embarkation)
Welcome to Luxembourg! Before a delectable dinner, you will meet and greet your crew at a welcome reception. The day is yours to explore Remich—the Pearl of the Moselle—with panoramic views of surrounding forests and vineyards. Enjoy dinner on board and an evening cruise to Grevenmacher.Prepare to travel the Moselle River, which is over 300 miles long and rises in the Vosges Mountains of Northeastern France and enters Germany at Trier.
Day 2 Grevenmacher. Excursion to Trier, Germany
Welcome to Trier, the oldest city in Germany. Many people believe Trier is in fact older than Rome and that it was occupied for more than 1,000 years before the Romans arrived in the area. Countless structures have remained intact through many years including The Roman Bridge (Germany’s oldest bridge), a 20,000-seat amphitheater, and the Porta Nigra, the only surviving gate from the Roman settlement. For those interested in architecture, Trier offers a treat for the eyes and minds with numerous styles used in the area including Roman, neoclassical, renaissance, baroque and gothic. You will have the option to choose from two included city sightseeing tours, one that focuses more on popular sights within the city and the other a more history-heavy Roman Trier tour. In addition, enjoy your time cruising the peaceful Moselle River, framed by picturesque landscapes.
Day 3 Bernkastel
Located in the middle of the Moselle region is Bernkastel, a quaint wine village comprised of narrow, charming streets, and half-timbered homes that have survived since the Middle Ages. During your time in this village, enjoy a guided walk that includes visits to the “pointed house,” constructed in 1416, and the Town Hall, built in 1608 in classic renaissance-style. Bernkastel is known for its vineyards and the growers here are responsible for the largest area of vineyards in all of Germany. During the evening hours, enjoy some of the area’s most popular wines, especially the renowned Bernkastel Doktor.
Day 4 Rudesheim – Rhine Gorge
Almost a week into your Central European river cruise, it will be time to explore one of the world’s most sought after destinations. In the morning hours, you will sail through the magnificent Rhine Gorge, considered to be the most breathtaking stretch of the Rhine. Gaze upon ancient castles and lofty cliffs that sit well over 400 feet above the water, and be sure to catch a glimpse of the famed Lorelei rock. Once in Rudesheim, a picturesque wine town, plan a trip to Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum. Here you can listen to the sounds of self-playing calliopes and music boxes from the 18th to the early 20th centuries. During your free time, take a stroll through this area’s cobblestone streets, find a few souvenirs and enjoy some live music.
Day 5 Main River Village
Located on the banks of the Main River, you will experience multiple tiny towns hidden behind towered gates and defensive walls. The scenery in the Main River Village is impressive with its narrow streets, medieval artistic style and half-timbered homes. Considered to be a photographer’s dream, you will want to keep your camera handy and spend the day exploring these towns via a local guided walk.
WürzburgEnjoy a relaxing morning as you cruise the Main River, awaiting your arrival in Würzburg during the afternoon. Known as the “Pearl of the Romantic Road,” this area is comprised of stunning hillside vineyards and the notable Marienberg Fortress that sits high above town.Take the guided sightseeing tour to visit the Bishop’s Residence, where you can experience the world’s largest ever ceiling fresco up close. After, take advantage of free time in order to do a little shopping, walking, or experiencing a German afternoon tradition of coffee and pastry.
BambergRelax with a delectable breakfast as you sail into Bamberg, arriving in the early afternoon. Considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this city was once home to one of Germany’s most powerful imperial dynasties. Fashioned in medieval style, visitors can experience breathtaking scenery and rich culture. Take a guided walking tour to the area’s history center where you can experience a 13th century Romanesque cathedral and the famed Old Town Hall, built on an island in the middle of the Regintz River.
Nuremberg (Disembarkation) – Prague, Czech Republic
During the morning, you will arrive in beautiful Nuremberg where you will say goodbye to your crew. Next you will travel via motor-coach to cross the Czech border in the Bohemian Forest to head for the “Golden City,” also known as Prague.
Day 9 Prague
Imagine a 1,200 year old city preserved in time and you can picture Prague. Unique compared to other Central European cities, Prague was not destroyed by bombs during the 20th-century wars. Enjoy this area’s beauty and original structures on a guided sightseeing tour to its most beloved treasures. You can visit the Old Town’s Astronomical Clock, constructed in the 15th century, the Hradcany Castle Grounds, St. Vitus Cathedral, and the oldest bridge in Prague – the Charles Bridge. Spend some time with the locals afterwards in Wenceslaus Square, take in a few street performances and purchase some souvenirs at nearby shops.
