Begin in the enchanting “City of Three Rivers” in Passau, Germany, and cruise to the delightful city of Linz, Austria for guided sightseeing, including Austria’s greatest medieval square and the soaring marble Trinity Column. Cruise through the scenic Wachau Valley to Krems and journey through the small village—seemingly undisturbed by the modern world that lives outside of it. You might opt to enjoy a glass of local wine during a wine tasting. Then you’ll continue your European river cruise to Vienna—the impressive City of Music. Your Central European river cruise will sail on to the energetic city of Budapest—known as the “Pearl of the Danube,” with its famous Heroes Square and incredible architecture, and iconic thermal baths. Next, you’ll take a tour through the historic Hungarian towns of Mohács and Pécs, sailing through rich cultures and lush landscapes that line the Balkan states of Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, and Romania. See the most preserved Croatian fortress in Osijek, and attend a lovely performance put on by the young students of the Franjo Kuhač music school. In Serbia, go for a guided tour of Belgrade, and stop in Lepenski Vir for a guided tour. Get a look at the local ancient archaeological finds and the marvelous Danube Gorge prior to sailing through the narrow Iron Gates Gorge—the natural border that is formed between Serbia and Romania. You’ll sail through Bulgaria with guided sightseeing in Vidin, Rousse, Veliko Târnovo, and Arbanassi. See spectacular sights, including Belogradchik’s notable rock formations; ancient stone cliff houses that line the edges above the Yantra River; and Bucharest’s vast Royal Palace Square.
