Day 1 Budapest, Hungary

Welcome to bustling Budapest, capital city of Hungary. Transfer to your cruise ship from the airport. After boarding your ship, the afternoon is yours to either relax onboard or do a bit of exploring in this vibrant city of Budapest. If your arrival schedule permits, you may choose to join an organized walk to Budapest’s famous covered market in the massive three-story Great Market Hall established in 1897. Return to your ship in the evening for an outstanding traditional Hungarian dinner. (Dinner)

Day 2 Budapest, Hungary

Today you visit the must-see sights of the beautiful hilly Buda and cosmopolitan Pest sides of the city, starting with Pest’s National Opera House and historic Heroes’ Square. In Buda, you’ll walk along impressive Castle Hill to Fishermen’s Bastion and elegant Matthias Church. Enjoy a great lunch aboard your ship, with the rest of the day free to explore more of the city. You may wish to visit the rejuvenating Art Nouveau Gellért Spa, or one of the many other lavish facilities in this “City of Healing Waters.” Return to your ship for dinner and evening departure. Day 3 Vienna, Austria

Enjoy a day of scenic cruising as you sail along the beautiful Danube toward Vienna, arriving early in the evening. After dinner, relax onboard ship or enjoy an optional classical concert – a fitting event considering Vienna’s amazing reputation for its world-class music. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 4 Vienna, Austria

Today we tour the Austrian capital of Vienna, known as the “City of Music,” which inspired the creative genius of Mozart, Beethoven, and Strauss. Ride along the Ringstrasse, which replaced the city walls in the mid-19th century. See some of the city’s baroque architecture, including the world-famous Vienna Opera House, elegant St. Stephan’s Cathedral and impressive Hofburg Palace. Return to your ship for lunch and the rest of the day is yours to further explore this marvelous city. As always, your helpful Program Director can share suggestions on numerous sightseeing opportunities for you during your free time. Or you may take an optional tour to elegant Schönbrunn Palace, the “Versailles of Vienna,” erected in 1778 and graced by a number of formal gardens, impressive Grecian statuary, the world’s oldest zoo and Roman ruins. Day 5 Melk, Austria

Today, visit the stately abbey at Melk, a 900-year-old Benedictine monastery featuring Austria’s finest Italian baroque architecture. You’ll be captivated by the splendor of the church with its wonderful frescoes, stunningly high altar, marble statues, and 210-foot-high cupola. Admire the comprehensive collection of more than 80,000 printed books and some 2,000 medieval manuscripts in its extravagant library. You will rejoin your ship and cruise through dinner. Day 6 Passau, Germany

In the morning you’ll arrive in beautiful Passau, situated at the junction of the Inn, Ilz and Danube Rivers. Your guided walk along the charming town’s narrow streets takes you through Old Town and past traditional patrician houses. You’ll see the elegant New Bishop’s Residence and visit the extravagant baroque St. Stephen’s Cathedral with its ornate interior. Inside, you are treated to a special concert played on the 17,774-pipe organ, considered Europe’s largest church organ. Enjoy lunch aboard your ship, and return to the city for further exploration and adventure on your own before departing for an all-night cruise. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 7 Regensburg, Germany

Arrive after breakfast in the historic city of Regensburg and tour this wonderfully preserved medieval city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, including structures dating back to Roman times. Discover many 13th- and 14th-century patrician houses and see the spectacular St. Peter’s Cathedral. During free time, visit the popular Alte Würstküche (Old Sausage Kitchen), Germany’s oldest restaurant. You can enjoy cruising through dinner. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 8 Nuremberg, Germany

During our morning cruise, you may choose to attend a noteworthy presentation about the European Union. Then in the late morning you’ll arrive in historic Nuremberg. After a great lunch, disembark for a tour that features the ruins of Zeppelin Field, the expansive Nazi parade grounds of the 1930s, and see the impressive Palace of Justice, site of the infamous Nuremberg Trials. Checkout Old Town as you stroll past the beautiful Albrecht Dürer House and bustling Main Market Square. You can spend more time exploring Nuremberg, or join an optional World War II tour including the illuminating Documentation Center. Enjoy free time throughout the evening and dinner is served aboard your ship. You will depart in the wee hours of the morning. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 9 Bamberg, Germany

Enjoy a tour of beautiful Bamberg, with its bustling medieval city center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your walking tour includes a visit to the elegant 11th-century cathedral, refurbished in late Romanesque style in the 13th century, and the charming city hall built on a tiny island in the middle of the Regnitz River when the Catholic bishop refused to give the townspeople land for the building. Take some free time to enjoy more of fascinating Bamberg and perhaps try some of the town’s distinctive smoke-flavored beer before returning to your ship in the evening. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 10 Würzburg, Germany

After a wonderful breakfast, tour Würzburg’s elegant Bishops’ Residenz, one of Germany’s largest and most ornate baroque palaces and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You’ll enjoy an onboard lunch or join an optional journey along Germany’s fascinating “Romantic Road” to Rothenburg, which features a mighty turreted city wall and impressive Gothic and baroque architecture. You’ll rejoin your ship for dinner and an exciting evening glassblowing demonstration. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 11 Wertheim, Germany

Wertheim is situated at the junction of the beautiful Main and Tauber Rivers. During your morning walking tour, experience life in a typical small German village. Visit a local bakery and a butcher shop, and take a little time to learn about Wertheim’s amazing glassblowing tradition. Enjoy free time to explore before returning to your ship for lunch. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 12 Koblenz, Germany & Middle Rhine

Today, we cruise past numerous lavish hilltop castles along the beautiful Rhine River, on what is considered the most stunning stretch of the scenic river – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We pass the world-famous Lorelei Rock, which marks the river’s narrowest point. The rock is named after a legendary Rhine Maiden who lured unsuspecting sailors to their demise. This afternoon, we’ll stop to visit majestic Marksburg Castle, the only Rhine fortress never destroyed by wars or invaders. You’ll rejoin your cruise ship in Koblenz and enjoy dining onboard. Day 13 Cologne, Germany

During a wonderful breakfast you’ll arrive in Cologne, then disembark for a tour of Germany’s fourth largest city. Stroll through Old Town past elegant St. Martin’s Church and visit the Dom, Germany’s largest cathedral and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Spend your free time enjoying Cologne’s atmospheric waterfront before returning aboard for dinner and evening departure. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 14 Kinderdijk, The Netherlands

You are sailing along the beautiful Rhine River during the morning, enjoying breathtaking scenic views. Or spend your morning enjoying some popular Dutch diversions: sample Dutch cheeses and jenever, a distilled juniper liquor, and try your hand at sjoelen (Dutch table shuffleboard). After lunch, your ship arrives in impressive Kinderdijk, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, for an afternoon tour of this ingenious network of windmills and other fascinating flood management devices. You learn why the windmills were built and see how they work, plus you enter a working windmill for a tour of its many mechanisms and amazing living quarters. Board your ship for departure and dinner. You’ll arrive in Amsterdam after midnight. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 15 Amsterdam, The Netherlands

After breakfast, disembark and proceed to the airport for your return flight home. Or, extend your journey with 2 additional nights in exciting Amsterdam; take time to explore the city’s neighborhoods, museums and festive nightlife. (Breakfast)
