River Cruise Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive in Amsterdam, Holland (Embarkation)
Welcome to Amsterdam, Holland’s gorgeous and most exquisite capital, flourishing with Hollands historical scenic landmarks. This 700-year-old city is rich with neoclassical architecture, an elaborate canal system, and narrow, timbered houses. You will begin with a guided tour through busy markets, quaint cafes, and authentic cuisine at popular local hotspots. If your flight arrives earlier than expected, you have the option of taking another excursion before boarding your vessel for the evening welcoming reception while getting acquainted with your crew. The evening reception starts at 5pm. (Dinner)
Day 2 Amsterdam
Enjoy a hearty breakfast then your day will begin on your way through the grachten, where you will find houses that date back to Amsterdam’s Middle Ages. After a while, you will be on your way to Germany. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 3 Dusseldorf, Germany
Discover the magnificence of the waterway by canal boat as you enjoy and peaceful ride to Dusseldorf, the center of the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region. Dusseldorf is famous for its fashion and trade fair, along with the business and financial centers. Here you will be able to join a guided sightseeing tour of the city. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 4 Rhine Gorge – Rudesheim
As you sail through the Rhine Gorge, the peaceful and picturesque stretch of the river will take you to beautiful ancient castles that stand as high as 400 feet above the water. Just a few miles up the river, you will float past the legendary Lorelei rock, a mythical treasure that still speaks of mermaids luring sailors to their fate. As you arrive further upstream, you may able to hear the musical stylings of the 18th music boxes and self-playing calliopes in the distance at the famous Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Museum. Here, you will want to grab your camera as the guide takes you through this sensational, magical, musical venue. While you’re there, stop at the gift shop and pick up some souvenirs at the Drosselgrasse, a baroque and cobblestone house that sits atop open and airy wine and flower gardens. Day 5 Cochem
You will spend part of your morning gliding the peaceful and tranquil waterways of the Moselle River. The Moselle River is known for its vibrant scenery and wine-growing areas. Enjoy a light lunch, then after a while you will arrive in Cochem, a quaint historical and lively town. You will be captivated by the half-timbered houses and curvy streets that bring this little town to life. Join a guided tour for a historical adventure through the Reichsburg Castle, a neo-classical wonder than has been standing since 1000 AD and is still furnished with renaissance and baroque furniture. The castle sits high on a hill, overlooking the fabulous town and river below. It is lined with vines and offers a spectacular view of the vineyard. As the heart of the Moselle wine trade, Cochem is also known for its cultivation of the Riesling grape, a soft and floral flavor with fruity notes. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 6 Bernkastel
Today you will grace another very popular territory, Bernkastel, a wine town in the Moselle region. The streets and baroque houses have stood since the Middle Ages and echo with history. Take a guided walk through the market place that leads to the Town Hall, introducing you to the famous and historic ‘pointed houses’ that were built in 1416. Bernkasteler Doktor is a wine-growers paradise and is cared for and looked after by the majority of the town’s people. It is sought to be the most celebrate vintage. As the afternoon begins, you may want to take a trip to the Wine Museum, where you can learn about the history while sampling delicious varieties of local wine with an introductory wine tasting tour. Day 7 Trier, Germany
On this day, you will reach at the top of the Moselle Valley, the Trier in Germany. This experience will provided you a sensational ending to your river cruise adventure. This fascinating area will take you through the such events as the Roman Settlement, where you will get up-close and personal with one of oldest surviving fortified gates, the Porta Nigra, a 20,000 amphitheater that still makes way into the towns center; the spectacular imperial baths, and the Roman Bridge, Germans oldest bridge with stone pilings that date back from 144-152 AD. The Trier offers a variety of fresh local foods and the markets, a tour through Germanys oldest Christian Church, and a plethora of renaissance, neo-classical, and baroque style architecture that stand untouched to this day. You may choose between a guided tour on the Roman Trier, which entails a more in-depth history view of the towns, or if you prefer to take a solo tour on your own, you may explore this fantastic city at your own pace while you wait to board your vessel for the evening.
