Wurzburg is known as the “Pearl of the Romantic Road”, and is enveloped by lush vineyards and sloping hills. You will be awestruck at such historical landmarks as you gaze up at the Marienberg Fortress that is perched above town and the 15th – century Alte Mainbrucke (Old Main Bridge). On your guided sightseeing tour, you will experience the Bishops Residenz, home of the largest fresco painted ceilings and stunning baroque décor. When the afternoon hits, you are able to explore these scenic and historic streets on your own. Maybe you prefer one of our optional excursions through Rothenberg. Today you will arrive in a quaint and baroque little Bavarian town of Bamberg. This quiet and fabled town echoes historical symbols as the great 13th-century Romanesque Cathedral and the breathtaking Altes Rathaus (Old Town Hall). Altes Rathaus was built on an island in the middle of the Regnitz River because the bishops had refused to give the townspeople land for a town hall. Bamberg is also the home of the UNESCO World Heritage Site and your guided walking tour takes you through the historic center. This time of year, the town’s people celebrate the Christmas cheer by decking the towns with such magical ornaments and handcrafted decorations as the traditional Nativity Scene.
