Day 1 – Nuremberg, Germany (Embarkation)
Board your vessel this afternoon to get settled before setting sail on this beautiful Avalon river cruise. Meet your crew for a fun welcome reception to be followed by a delicious dinner in the evening. (Dinner)


Day 2 – Bamburg
Medieval Bamburg will steal your heart with its charming UNESCO World Heritage site. Bamburg is known for housing one of Germany’s most powerful imperial dynasties. A guided tour will take you through the Old Town Hall or Altes Rathaus. Before you head back on board to relax this afternoon as you coast to Wurzburg, make sure to visit the awe-inspiring 13th-century Roman Cathedral in the historic center.  You will learn that in the middle of the Regnitz River, the town hall was built on a small island because the bishop refused to give the townspeople land for a town hall! (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

As your river cruise journeys through Germany, it now takes you to the quaint town of Wurzburg. A sightseeing tour will be provided for you to gain all of what Wurzburg has to offer. As you see lush green landscape and pockets of hidden architectural treasures within the town, you will notice why it is called the “Pearl of the Road”. Its delightful and whimsical charm makes an immediate impression. The Baroque Bishops Residenz is home of the largest fresco painted ceilings. Travel through the town and view the 15th-century Altes Mainbruke (Old Main Bridge) or head off to Rothenburg for an optional excursion. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 4 – Main River Village Experience
This little cozy town hides behind towering gates and defensive walls. The experience will bring you right back to medieval times with its half-timbered houses and winding cobblestone streets. The Bavarian villages and neo-classical marketplace offer decent foods and delicious local drinks that are a must to try. Tour the streets on your own as you discover the cultural gems that line this small and unique town.  After you have arrived from sailing up river to this charming renaissance town, a guided tour will take you on an adventure. Day 5 – Rudesheim – Rhine Gorge
You will spend some time drifting through the breathtaking Rhine Gorge with its lofty mansions that stand 400 feet above the waters. Just around the corner, keep you camera out to capture the famous Lorelei rock where legend has it that you can still hear the siren song of the mermaids luring sailors to their fate. The Rhine Valley wine town offers a chance to savor some authentic wine while you enjoy the picturesque view of the vineyards. Before you stop by the Drosselgrasse for souvenirs and your special treat, check out the musical styles of self-playing 18th and 20th calliopes and music boxes. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)


Day 6 – Bernkastel
As you cruise down the Moselle River on this European river cruise, you will see the half-timbered houses and cobblestoned streets that reflect this once magical medieval city. In 1608, the renaissance-style Town Hall was born, and shortly before that, the ’pointed houses’ were established in 1416. These
gorgeous sites are photographers dream! A guided walking tour will take you through these streets and marketplace. Wander by the Barnkastel Doktor, Germany’s largest and most celebrated vineyards. The Moselle region is most famous for its wine. As the evening sets, you will enjoy some of Germany’s finest wine! (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Germany’s oldest city welcomes you to its rich baroque and neo-classical architecture that makes this spectacular Roman city shine. You will be guided by a local on a history-focused “Roman Trier” tour. Here you will experience historical sites such as the popular amphitheater, the Porta Nigra, holding 20,000 seats and being the only fortifying gate that gives access to the town’s center. It is said that Trier is even older than Rome, being populated over thousand years prior to the Romans.  An included sightseeing tour is also available, or you may enjoy the sights of this magnificent ancient town on your own. Check out the stone pilings that lay at the Roman Bridge, Germany’s oldest bridge. These pilings date back from 144-152 AD. Before you join your vessel and cruise to Remich in the Grand Duchy of Luxemburg. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 8 – Remich, Luxemburg (Disembarkation)
