Popular cruising destination
So why is Mexico a popular destination for cruisers? Beautiful beaches, warm, tropical weather and the scrumptious authentic Mexican food just might have something to do with it. When you take a Mexican Riviera cruise, you’ll truly believe you’re on vacation. The days at sea are slow and relaxing. And you get to visit some sunny beach destinations in Mexico. A cruise to the Mexican Riviera usually takes you to Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlán and Cabo San Lucas. Holland America, Norwegian and Princess have the ships that will take you there. You’ll be able to depart from San Francisco, Los Angeles, Long Beach or San Diego. A 7- or 9-day cruise will give you plenty of days at sea to relax and enjoy the food, spa, shows and maybe try your luck at the casino. It’s the right combination to rejuvenate your mind and spirit with the beautiful Pacific Ocean as your backdrop.
If you live on the West Coast, you can take a fun weekend getaway cruise to Mexico out of Los Angeles or Long Beach. They are generally two to four nights, and most itineraries stop in Ensenada while some also include Catalina Island or San Diego. Carnival and Princess have 3- and 4-day cruises to Mexico year round.
No passport? No problem!
It’s still possible to cruise to Mexico without a passport. As long as it’s a round trip cruise from a U.S. port, a passport is not required. You’ll need a certified U.S. birth certificate and government issued ID (like a driver’s license). However, we always recommend you take a passport if you’re traveling internationally.
