Zealandia is a preserve that offers families the chance to see some of the island’s unique flora and fauna, and it’s only 10 miles away from the city center. It’s also a beautiful place to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee.

Stroll down Cuba Street: This is where the hip, artistic community of Wellington hangs out. You can grab a cup of coffee and people-watch, or take a walk down the street and visit the small boutiques and galleries that populate each block.
Ride the Wellington Cable Car: Another great sightseeing activity, the Wellington Cable Car gives you a terrific introduction to the city and let’s you view attractions such as Kelburn Park and The Terrace.

Visit the Weta Cave: It’s difficult to overstate the impact that the “Lord of the Rings” movie trilogy had on New Zealand’s tourism industry. The Weta Cave, located at the studio where much of the trilogy was filmed, gives you an inside look into the story of its production.
