Where Will an “Eastern” Caribbean Cruise Take Me?

Less than a hundred miles off the coast of Florida, the popular Bahamian ports of Nassau and Freeport are frequently included on many Eastern Caribbean cruises. Cruise lines’ private islands are also included in this Caribbean cruise.

Ports of call may include Turks and Caicos Islands, St. Thomas, Tortola, St. Kitts, St. John (U.S. Virgin Islands), St. Maarten/St. Martin, St. Lucia, Barbados, Jamaica, Haiti, Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico. The number of ports where your ship will stop depend on the cruise line you choose and the length of your cruise.

Eastern Caribbean cruises have departure ports on the east coast as far north as New York. For people living in the Northeast or anywhere on the Atlantic coast, these ports are convenient and let travelers avoid the cost of airfare to Florida.

Traditionally, the best times for an Eastern Caribbean cruise are between mid-April and mid-May, prior to hurricane season and just after Labor Day until mid-November. Many travelers avoid booking in March because it’s spring break time on cruise ships, and all the young people want to head for a sunny warm destination.

Where Will a “Southern” Caribbean Cruise Take Me?

The majority of Southern Caribbean cruises are longer sailings, but there are some exceptions. You will spend more time at sea on a southern cruise, and you should plan for a minimum 10-day cruise.

The longer cruise time at sea allows for travel to some smaller, remote, and less populated islands. Some of the port stops on the southern cruise include Antigua, St. Kitts and Nevis, Dominica, Martinique, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Barbados, Trinidad, and Tobago.

It’s definitely an amazing cruise and the longer you have to spend on this cruise the more you’ll get to enjoy of these amazingly beautiful islands.
