According to USA Today, these are the months that are considered high season, due in part to the fact that families are able to travel during this time when school is out for the summer. Temperatures typically range between 54 and 73 degrees Fahrenheit, which means that it’s perfect weather for virtually anything including horseback riding, fishing, hiking or taking a walking tour through one of Alaska’s historic towns.

Another benefit to taking a cruise to Alaska during this time frame is that there is sunlight at virtually all times of the day. That means, for example, you could be reading your favorite book out on the deck of your cruise ship at 1 in the morning!

However, although you may feel inclined to take your vacation in June or July, you should know that you can have just as great of a time if you go in May or even through the middle of September. True & very helpful tips. We have lived in Ketchikan for 28 years & have cruised w/ Cruise Experts many times. May is a safer bet weather wise than Sept. as we typically do not use our home heat sources from May 15 until Sept. 15. September weather can be fickle but it is much better month if individuals are interested in fishing-lots of silver salmon!

    God bless, Gary Souza
