Let's face it - I love NCL. We have had 3 cruises w/ ya'll and recommended it to friends also... so I am a walking advertisement. We are seniors so I'm always looking for a really good deal. — Betty D.

Caribbean Cruise Destinations

When planning a Caribbean cruise, it’s important to take into consideration the amount of time you have available for your trip.

When selecting your cruise, you can choose from western, eastern, and southern Caribbean options. Cruise lines vary a bit as to the ports of call they consider falling into each category.

Western – On a western Caribbean cruise, you sail between Cuba and Mexico. Depending on your specific cruise, you may visit Cozumel, Costa Maya, Belize, and Roatan. Some itineraries include Jamaica, Grand Cayman Islands, and the Bahamas (technically not in the Caribbean).

Eastern – On an eastern Caribbean cruise, you typically will sail through the Bahamas, stopping at the private islands of cruise lines that have them. Your ports of stop may include Turks & Caicos Islands, St. Thomas, Tortola, St. Kitts, St. John (U.S. Virgin Islands), St. Maarten/St. Martin, St. Lucia, Barbados, Jamaica, Haiti, Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico.

Southern – Plan for 10 days or longer when cruising the southern Caribbean. This will include more time at sea. Some southern Caribbean ports you may visit include Antigua, St. Kitts & Nevis, Dominica, Martinique, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & The Grenadines, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Curacao, Bonaire, and Aruba.

Make sure you know everything to pack for a Caribbean cruise here.

Best Caribbean Cruise Ports

Caribbean ports have a variety of activities, historic sites, dining, and excursions. We’ve listed some of the most popular ports to give you an idea of what you can expect on the cruise you select.

Cozumel – This port is known for its beautiful white beaches, marine biodiversity, great reef banks (popular for scuba diving), and being where the sun first rises in Mexico. Visitors enjoy sunning on the beach, surfing, windsurfing, snorkeling, kayaking, swimming with dolphins, fishing, golfing, and bike riding. Visit Chankanaab National Park and the San Gervasio Archaeological Zone.

Belize – Bordered by Mexico and Guatemala, Belize’s beautiful islands are home to an expansive coral reef and amazing dive sites. Deep-sea fishing is a popular activity for tourists. Belize is also a country rich in Mayan history, and visitors can enjoy exploring and photographing the significant Mayan ruins. Spend a lazy day relaxing on a soft white sand beach.

Falmouth, Jamaica – Falmouth is a cruise port that represents every image of Caribbean hospitality, beauty, and charm travelers have come to love. It is one of the largest colonial towns, has a rich heritage, and its beauty comes from lush forests, stunning waterfalls, scrumptious emerald rivers, gorgeous beaches, and friendly and charming people.

Charlotte Amalie, St Thomas – This is one of the most popular cruise ports in the Caribbean. Visitors are fascinated by cobblestone alleyways, the street of steps, historic homes, and 17th-century Danish fortifications. Duty-free shopping is the icing on the cake at this beautiful port.
