Themed river cruises are what’s hot

Themed cruise vacations have been gaining in popularity at an astonishing rate over the last few years and nowhere has that been more evident than in river cruising.  We’ve talked in the past about how river cruising is the fastest growing segment of cruise vacationing so it’s no surprise that themed river cruises are some of the first cruises of the year to sell out.

Who wouldn’t enjoy sitting in their stateroom gazing out their French balcony, sliding glass door open, with a glass of wine and a good book or their iPad, posting pictures on Facebook; the envy of all their friends.  Maybe instead you just want to enjoy the spectacular countryside as you cruise along the river until the boat docks right in the middle of the city. Once in that port city the only decisions you have are, do you want to join a group tour that’s included in your fare, explore on your own or just stay on the boat and relax? Now add to that picture your favorite interest like wine tasting, jazz music, WWI history or gardening and you have the perfect get-a-way.

It’s no surprise why these cruises are so popular.  That’s why it’s time to book your 2014 cruise before they’re gone. Call CruiseExperts.com to find out if there’s still space available as these themed European river cruises are

    • Linda Garcia says:

Hi Peggy! American Cruise Lines and Avalon Waterways both offer spectacular itineraries along the Mississippi River. Modern paddlewheel boats offer all the amenities of fine hotels, but also include your food, shore excursions and onboard entertainment in the price of your ticket. American Cruise Line offers seven Mississippi river itineraries and Avalon Waterways has two. All the itineraries are rich with history, regional cuisine and spectacular views of the country. American Cruise Line also offers other American cruises. The northeast coast harbor and bay cruises, southeast coastline cruises take you along a path of history and southern culture, and Chesapeak Bay cruise. If you really want to indulge your inner-US history cravings, take the Potomac and Tidewaters river cruise which covers the historical sites from Philadelphia, PA to Washington, DC. On the west coast you can cruise the Columbia and Snake rivers on a paddlewheel boat and follow the path pioneered by Lewis and Clark. Themed cruises are also a big hit and are only offered on specific dates. History, Food and Music fans will love themed cruises such as Gold Rush, New England Lobster, Mississippi River Jazz, Mississippi River Civil War, Savories of the South, Lewis & Clark Cruises, Columbia River Wine, Mark Twain Tribute, Chesapeak Bay Crabfest, Old Fashioned Summer, and Civil War Eastern Theater. Call one of our cruise experts at 866-787-6866 to help you find the perfect American river cruise for you. AND it’s best to consult us so we can make sure you take your cruise during the best time of year for that region. Thank you for asking because I don’t think a lot of people are aware of all the fabulous American cruises.

    • The American Queen and the Queen of the Mississippi are authentic paddle-wheelers with all the amenities of modern river cruise ships. They cruise the Mississippi on voyages from 4 to 10 nights from late April through New Years Day. Many of these are themed cruises including Civil War, Jazz, Country Music, Big Band, Kentucky Derby and Holiday cruises. Cruise ports include New Orleans, Memphis, Cincinnati, Louisville, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, and St. Paul.

You can also cruise the waterways and rivers of the East Coast including Chesapeake Bay, the Hudson River and the Potomac. These are especially memorable in the fall with all the colorful fall foliage. You can cruise the Historic South and golden Isles from Charleston, SC to Jacksonville, Florida in the Spring and November to December. Or maybe you would prefer to cruise Maine’s coast and harbors or the Mid-Atlantic Coast.

If you prefer a river cruise in the Western US your can cruise the Columbia and Snake Rivers between Portland, Oregon and Clarkston, Washington – the same route taken by the Lewis and Clark Expedition over 200 years ago.

River cruising is a wonderful way to see America and only unpack once. If you would like more information, please contact me so I can share my knowledge and experience to make your river cruise vacation even better!
